Can I lay laminate flooring over existing hardwood floors?

Can I lay laminate flooring over existing hardwood floors

Hardwood floors are a pretty option for any homeowner. But also it is expensive on a budget. So, Laminate flooring can be a great alternative.

In the last few years, Laminate flooring has gained popularity for its attractive look & easy installation system.

People often ask ‘’can I put laminate flooring over hardwood floor?’’ We can answer ‘’yes’’ for this question! If you already apply hardwood flooring in your home & want to lay laminate flooring over your existing hardwood floors, don’t worry! In this article, we’ll explain to you how to do it.

Okay, let’s go!

Why Is This the Right Decision?

Installing laminate over hardwood floors is a great choice for its many other advantages. You can easily convert to your previous hardwood setup if you want. You just simply pull out the laminate flooring setup without any damage to your old hardwood floor. It’s simple than you think!

Tips on How to Lay the Flooring

How to Lay the Flooring

Here are some tips that will be handy in laying the flooring ornament.

  • Clean Your Workplace

No actual preparation is necessary to do this job. Before starting your installation process you will need to clean your whole floor space. The floor cannot have high spots. Erase them off or grit them down.

  • Measure the Quantity of Material

After choosing the right type of laminate category you need to know how much laminate flooring material you need. You can multiply the length of your room by the width to find that answer.

  • Level the Hardwood

When you’re installing laminate flooring on a floor or on a subfloor which is not completely flat, you can use lots of little tricks and techniques to make it smooth.

Make sure that your hardwood floor shape is rough or not. If it is in rough shape, you will do some extra work before the installation process.

Every nails & fastener must be pulled out from the wood. You will also need to level the wavy part of your hardwood floor before installing the laminate floor.

  • Peel off the Baseboard

You have to cut the old paint & caulking between wall & baseboard just easily finish your work. You want to set a new laminate flooring over the hardwood here, so you must peel off the baseboard from the wall. So you can do the job with comfort.

Sometimes you find some gap between the wall & your floor. You can use some molding to cover that gap easily. But if you want to avoid spending more money on cutting new molding, you can just repair your old stuff. It’s not a big issue.

  • Don’t Tighten the Laminate Too Much to the Wall

Let’s remind you of one important thing.

One of the biggest mistakes that people do when they install the laminate floor is, they lay it tight to the wall. And we suggest you don’t do that.

The reason you don’t want to do that because this floor is gonna move with temperature changes & humidity. So when the floor extends, it’s gonna have nowhere to go except up. As a result, the floor setup will get loose. It’s bad!

Final Words

Okay, we have discussed shortly here about how you can lay laminate flooring over your existing hardwood floors. This article gives you tips on how to do it. We hope that the article is helpful to you to do your best flooring!

CONGRATULATIONS TO JUSTIN ROSE OUR 2010 AT&T National Champion

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (July 4) – Justin Rose answered every question thrown his way Sunday at the AT&T National and won his second tournament in four weeks, this time by one shot over hard-charging Ryan Moore at the rugged Aronimink Golf Club.

Rose closed with an even par 70 to hold off Moore, who finished with a 5-under 65.  Rose’s rounds of 69-64-67-70 and total of 10-under 270 proved to be just enough for him to record the second PGA Tour victory of his career.

Rose also won the Memorial Tournament the first week of June and also had a chance to win the Travelers Championship last week, but faltered when he had a 3-shot lead on the last day.
“I was a little worried about that, but I tried to stay within myself and my rhythm,” said Rose, 29.
Rose began the day with a four-shot lead and increased it to five shots when he eagled the ninth, but he had back-to-back three-putt bogeys at the 10th and 11th, before steadying himself and finishing with seven consecutive pars.
“I probably made it a little closer than it needed to be,” he said.

Jeff Overton finished with a 3-under 67 and wound up third at 8-under 272.  Fourth place belonged to Charlie Wi, who finished with a 1-under 69, and J.B. Holmes’ 4-under 66 moved him into fifth place.
The victory was worth $1.116 million to Rose.

Tiger Woods and AT&T; National to Return to Congressional Country Club in 2009

BETHESDA, MD — The 2009 AT&T National hosted by Tiger Woods is confirmed to be held at the historic Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, MD, Greg McLaughlin, president of the Tiger Woods Foundation and Bret Hart, president of Congressional Country Club jointly announced. Congressional Country Club originally agreed to be the host site for 2007 and 2008, but has now confirmed that in 2009 they will again host the $6 million PGA TOUR tournament, featuring a field of 120 professionals while benefiting the Tiger Woods Foundation.

“I know the players and fans loved coming out to the Blue Course last year. We are honored and excited by the support we have received from the board and members at Congressional Country Club,” Tournament Host Tiger Woods said. “I’m thrilled we will be able to once again hold our championship there in 2009.”

“Congressional Country Club was pleased in 2007 to be able to bring a professional golfing event back to the DC Region. The tournament was a tremendous success. Our members were proud to play an integral part in that success and at the same time allow for contributions to many well-deserving charities,” Hart said. “That pride, coupled with the excitement surrounding the tournament, led to an overwhelming vote by the membership to be the 2009 venue for the AT&T National. We look forward once again to working with AT&T and the Tiger Woods Foundation on this prestigious championship.”

The AT&T National brings some of golf’s finest players to the D.C. area while benefiting the Tiger Woods Foundation and paying tribute to the men and women in our Armed Forces. In addition to serving as the host organization, the Tiger Woods Foundation also plans to expand its programs to the East Coast by bringing the Tiger Woods Learning Center to Washington, D.C.

Tickets are now on sale for this years AT&T National held on July 2 – 6, 2008. The $425 Golf Lovers Package, good for any one day, includes one VIP parking pass; clubhouse daily passes, Morton’s steak sandwich vouchers, and private on course lounge wristbands for four people. The Weekly Clubhouse Badge, good from Wednesday – Sunday, is $250 and includes clubhouse access and free general admission parking. The Congressional Country Club, which opened in 1924, is par-72 course covering 7,173 yards. The course has played host to four majors–two U.S. Opens (1964 and 1997), one PGA Championship (1976) and the U.S. Senior Open (1995) and will host the U.S. Open once again in 2011. The Kemper Open was played there from 1980-86 and the Booz Allen Classic was held there in 2005. Congressman Oscar E. Bland and O.R. Lubring of Indiana, founders of the Club, set out to provide an informal common ground where politicians and businessmen could meet as peers, unconstrained by red tape. They took their idea to Herbert Hoover, then Secretary of Commerce, who agreed to serve as Founders’ Club President and, from 1922-1923, Honorary Founding President of a soon-to-be-built Congressional Country Club. Primarily because of the determination of these original two visionaries, the Club was incorporated in December 1921. Construction of the Club took two and one-half years from concept to completion. Its international recognition, intended for the world of politics, has been achieved instead in the world of golf.
